[Abstract]:
Shandong Alpha New Material Co., Ltd. is a large-scale physical enterprise mainly engaged in aluminum materials. Its main business is aluminum plate, aluminum coil, aluminum strip, aluminum foil, pattern aluminum plate, color coated aluminum coil, aluminum corrugated tile, etc.

The widespread adoption of powder coated aluminum in the field of metal surface treatment is no accident—it is a product of the precise matching of materials science and industrial needs. Technically, powder coated aluminum is a composite material formed by uniformly covering the surface of an aluminum substrate with solid powder coating through electrostatic spraying or fluidized bed spraying processes, followed by high-temperature curing to form a continuous and dense coating. Compared to traditional solvent-based coated aluminum, its core difference lies in the breakthrough in film-forming mechanism, which determines its comprehensive advantages in performance, environmental friendliness, and economy.

what is powder coated aluminium

To understand the technological value of powder coated aluminum, it is essential to first clarify its core process logic. Pretreatment of the aluminum substrate is fundamental, requiring multiple processes such as degreasing, alkaline washing, neutralization, oxidation, or phosphating to ensure thorough removal of surface oil and oxide film, while simultaneously creating a rough interface—this step directly affects coating adhesion. The industry typically requires adhesion to reach no coating peeling after cross-cutting. In the subsequent powder coating stage, electrostatic spraying is the mainstream choice. High-voltage electrostatics negatively charge the powder particles, causing them to adhere to the grounded aluminum substrate surface. The coating thickness can be precisely controlled by the spray gun voltage and travel speed, typically ranging from 50-120 μm in conventional industrial applications, and exceeding 200 μm in special conditions. During the high-temperature curing stage, the powder particles melt, level, cross-link, and cure at 160-220℃, forming a coating that combines protective and decorative functions.

From a performance perspective, the advantages of powder coated aluminum are supported by rigorous data. Regarding corrosion resistance, salt spray tests show that high-quality powder-coated aluminum can withstand neutral salt spray for over 1000 hours, far exceeding the 480-hour standard for solvent-based coated aluminum, demonstrating particularly outstanding performance in harsh environments such as marine climates and industrial pollution zones. In terms of hardness, the pencil hardness of the coated aluminum generally reaches above 2H, exhibiting significantly better scratch resistance than anodized aluminum, making it suitable for high-traffic public buildings. Furthermore, the weather resistance of the powder coating has been verified through accelerated aging tests (GB/T 1865), with a color difference change ΔE ≤ 1.5 and a gloss retention rate ≥ 80%, ensuring no fading or chalking for over 15 years.

For potential customers, the key to choosing powder coated aluminum lies in clarifying the matching logic between application scenarios and performance requirements. Powder-coated aluminum sheets and coils, as an important product form in this field, have become the preferred choice for industries such as construction and home appliances due to their standardization and large-scale production advantages. Our powder coated aluminum sheets and coils use high-precision continuously rolled aluminum substrates as raw materials, coupled with an automated continuous electrostatic spraying production line, achieving precise control of coating thickness within ±5μm. Coil widths cover standard specifications of 1000-1600mm, and can be customized and slit according to customer needs, significantly improving downstream processing efficiency. Powder-coated aluminum sheet coil is more suitable for large-scale continuous processing scenarios, such as integrated housing wall panels and mass production of home appliance casings, effectively reducing splicing gaps and ensuring consistent appearance and ease of construction.

Regarding coating material selection, we configure dedicated powder systems for different application scenarios: outdoor aluminum coils use high-weather-resistant fluorocarbon powder, achieving a gloss retention rate of ≥85% in accelerated aging tests, suitable for long-term outdoor environments; indoor aluminum coils use environmentally friendly polyester powder, offering high color saturation and customizable textures (such as matte, wood grain). Not all powder coatings are suitable for all scenarios: our fluorocarbon powder-coated aluminum coils are the preferred choice for outdoor building facades due to their superior UV resistance; polyester powder-coated aluminum coils can be used for indoor furniture or appliance parts, balancing cost-effectiveness and aesthetics; and epoxy powder-coated aluminum coils can be customized for industrial equipment housings to enhance chemical corrosion resistance. It is worth noting that our aluminum coils all use high-quality 3003 aluminum alloy substrates, undergoing rigorous pretreatment processes to ensure coating adhesion meets standards. The entire process, from substrate to coating, is controllable, guaranteeing product stability.

From an industry development perspective, the technological upgrade direction for powder coated aluminum is clear: low-curing-temperature powder coatings (120-140℃) can reduce energy consumption, while bio-based powder coatings further enhance environmental friendliness. For customers, when choosing a coating, they should not only focus on its appearance but also verify the substrate pretreatment process, the powder coating brand, and testing reports to avoid problems such as thin coatings and insufficient curing caused by low-price competition. Essentially, the value of powder coated aluminium lies in achieving a long-term balance between protection and decoration at a reasonable cost, which is the core logic behind its continued replacement of traditional coating materials in fields such as construction, transportation, and home appliances.
